“I just had a sudden appreciation of life today,” said netizen Chris Vergara in his Facebook post. A simple encounter with a fast food service crew got him thinking how blessed he was with where he is in life. This is what happened:
When he sat down to eat the food he had ordered, Chris realized he was given the wrong order: He ordered chicken with spaghetti, but was given chicken and rice instead. He flagged this to one of the service crew and asked if it would be too much to ask for a replacement now that he has started to slice the chicken.
The service crew said it would be quick and not a problem at all. Now, while waiting for his replacement order, he realized just how busy the service crew were in a buzzing fast food place like the one he was in.
As a matter of fact, they were visibly juggling too many things at once — something he noticed while he was queueing for his order to be taken: “Staff asking help from one another, cashiers requesting assistance from the manager, some standing and others half-jogging in that tiny space behind the counter.”

That’s when he felt bad about asking the service crew for a replacement on his order. He even contemplated if he should have just eaten the rice earlier given to him. To ease his mind, Chris tried to offer some sort of compensation for the service crew who brought his replacement order. The guy politely declined, and walked away with a smile and an apology.
At this point, Chris Vergara understood his privilege.
“I am blessed with a good life, a supportive family, and surrounded with loved ones who help me in times of need. But what about the staff here at McDonald’s? And other mainstream fast food chains? They break their backs and sore their soles everyday just to barely earn the minimum legal pay every month.”

So for Chris, the service crew deserve nice treatment, gratitude, and friendliness for the hard work they do. Netizens couldn’t agree more:
