Army soldier breaks down in airport watching his wife give birth through Facetime

What could easily be the most important flight in U.S. Army soldier Brooks Lindsey‘s life got delayed. As a result, he had to watch his beloved wife give birth — through Facetime.

The Army soldier was travelling from El Paso, Texas, to Brandon, Mississippi, as his wife Haley Lindsey was going into labor. When he knew he would no longer make it, he soldiered on and gave whatever support he could give his wife through the small screen of his cellphone.

Watching this heartbreaking scene, Brooks’ fellow travelers took photos and videos to post on social media, to give the Army soldier a proper tribute for his sacrifice.

“This Army soldier was on my delayed flight home yesterday to MS. He had to watch the birth of his daughter on FaceTime. He was crying and our hearts were breaking. We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him,” one of said co-travelers, Tracy Dover, said on Facebook.

Now, the soldier’s loving and understanding wife still found something to be thankful about in the whole situation.

See, the childbirth actually took place two weeks before the expected due date. This is the primary reason why the Army soldier couldn’t make it on time. He had to go on a moment’s notice, but in a way, Haley said, the delay in the flight translated to something good.

As luck would have it, she was already dilated and would have given birth while Brooks was flying– if not for the delay!

“He was scheduled to take off at 3:55 but LUCKILY his flight was delayed to 5:45. Without that delay Brooks would have been in the air and unable to FaceTime!” Haley told the press.

In the end, the soldier did make it to meet his little angel, Millie Fritz Anne Lindsey, at two hours old. Haley couldn’t contain all that she was feeling, especially knowing that her husband would have to leave for duty shortly again.

“When he walked in at 7:20 it was just Millie and me. He picked her up and held her for five minutes and kept saying “wow I can’t believe we just had a baby” but the entire time I was already dreading him leaving four days later.”

Understandably, netizens found the story touching:
