Almost a week after the country’s main airport experienced the worst chaos they could ever imagine, a lot of stranded passengers are still expressing their disappointment on the lack of coordination and care from both airlines and government entities responsible for the said event.
Just like the rant of Facebook user Kobe Aguilon Maderazo who slammed the officials from Philippine Airlines (PAL) for poorly handling this kind of disaster.
According to Kobe, the country’s flag carrier airline made the passengers including himself wait for almost 24 hours only to be told that their flight en route to Dammam Saudi Arabia will be canceled.
Kobe revealed that after the PAL officer announced the cancelation of flight, all passengers were left hanging in the airport lounge without any food to eat or any sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
“Tingnan nyo kagaguhan ng PAL after namin mag wait ng halos buong araw kinancel nila fight namin to Dammam ang masakit after ma cancel iniwan kmi ng mga employees ng PAL ni hindi man lang kmi binigyan ng pagkain kagabi hanggang nag umaga hanggang nakaalis kmi ng 2pm kanina! Pu**** i** nyo PAL!” Kobe wrote.
In the 3-minute video, hundreds of frustrated passengers could be seen expressing their anger and disappointment on the way PAL handled the situation.
It could be recalled that on Thursday, August 16, 2018, hundreds of both international and local flight were delayed and canceled due to the runway mishap that involved a Xiamen Airplane which skidded off the NAIA runway.
This led the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to temporarily close the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) runway for almost two days.
MIAA also expressed disappointment over airlines’ lack of coordination which aggravates the flight delays and cancellation.
“May mga airlines ho na nag-mount ng recovery flights without even letting us know, so nagkaroon ho ng pressure sa ating mga gates, may mga flights na matagal na i-position kasi hindi ho namin alam na darating,” MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said during a press briefing on Sunday.
Although Monreal refused to name the airlines who made the situation worst, he said that every airlines should have a planned logistics to coordinate with the authorities.
“Sila ho ang may hawak ng assets, ng mga eroplano, ng schedules, kung ilang piloto at crew ang kailangan…. Wala ho sa authorities ‘yun,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Senate committee on public services is planning to invite all responsible officials in a probe to investigate the chaotic incident that affected thousands of passengers both coming and going to the Philippines.
