The world of social media can really be a tough one. It can make you a star through gaining the positive word of mouth or it can make you the most horrible person in the world by having an online trial by public. What could solve the latter part is to have both sides of the story so that the judgment of people would be balance and fair?
Just last few days, a Land Transportation Officer (LTO) officer was the subject for criticism after a netizen named Ben Chan posted a video of the traffic enforcer giving him a wrong ticket. This mistake led Ben into paying a larger amount of fine, which caused him to become irritated. The video also shows Ben cursing the traffic enforcer for such mistake.
Everyone believes that Ben is the victim in this story except for one person: American vehicle journalist James Deakin. In his Facebook page, Deakin posted the LTO officer’s response to Ben’s videos.
“Anyone see the profanity-laced viral video of the LTO officer that was verbally abused by a motorist for being charged for driving with an [outdated] license? I don’t think I was alone in feeling that it was conveniently cut to tell just one side of the story. So I spoke to some people to find out the other side.
Turns out the LTO enforcer took his own video. You be the judge. But please do NOT comment until you have watched the WHOLE video please. There’s a valuable lesson here,” Deakin said in the caption part of the video.
The video then shows the whole story of what happened. The LTO officer told Ben that he violated a lot of the traffic laws like having no seatbelt, defective tail lights, ADDA, and failure to carry a driver’s license even if he has a receipt. Ben first told the LTO officer that he doesn’t have the receipt.
“What he initially gave the LTO enforcer was an [outdated] DL and receipt. So, sinulat na ng enforcer. You will hear in the video na sinabi nya na hindi nya dala yung bago. Then, at some point, siguro nahanap nya yung bagong resibo sa bag nya, tsaka sya nagstart mag-video.
Note na bawal kasi magbura ng violations yung enforcers basta naisulat na sa TOP. May mga instances kasi in the past na kapag naisult pero nabigyan ng ‘lagay’, binubura,” Deakins said.
Deakins added the reason why searched for the LTO’s side was because he was sceptical about the original video.
“I did not [believe it] because it really seemed cut and very one sided. I don’t normally post videos like that until I get the other side,” he said.
Minura ng motoristang ito ang traffic enforcer dahil raw sa katangahan ng enforcer. Panoorin nyo at kayo na bahala manghusga.

I don’t think I was alone in feeling that it was conveniently cut to tell just one side of the story. So I spoke to some people to find out the other side. Turns out the LTO enforcer took his own video. You be the judge. But please do NOT comment until you have watched the WHOLE video please.
