Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has been making rounds of anti-Duterte statements after the President issued an order to put him back behind jails for allegedly failing to submit his amnesty program application. He previously said this is an example of the administration’s political persecution to its critics.
He has been calling the public to be vigilant on the actions of the government, which he described as close to dictatorial.

Now, Trillanes is pleading to the public not to vote for fhe Duterte slate, the PDP-Laban, in the upcoming midterm elections, weeks before the filing of candidacy.
According to the staunch critic of the President, voting for these possible senatorial candidates under the Duterte slate may continue his “corrupt” and “dictatorial” ways.
Some of the examples of his corrupt ways, he said, are his uncovered wealth and alleged involvement in illegal trading of illegal substance.
“Meron silang way to do that—itong upcoming elections. Gusto niyong bawian si Mr. Duterte? Gusto niyo baguhin ‘yung kanyang mga polisiya? I-zero niyo ‘yung mga kandidato niya,” Trillanes said in a press conference outside his office at the Senate this Saturday.
“‘Wag niyo iboto kasi ipagpapatuloy lang ang mga kalokohan niya,” he said.
Trillanes also the public should be wary of the political climate as “slowly nawawala na ang ating freedom so nasa sa kanila ‘yan kung gusto nila magpaalipin sa isang hari ng [illegal substance] lord.”
“Being a member of opposition, kailangan ko ilabas ‘yung dapat ilabas para mamulat ‘yung tao. Ang tao ang magde-decide kung ano ang gagawin nila diyan,” he said.
PDP-Laban Chairman Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III previously revealed 24 potential senatorial candidates for the May 2019 elections.
This includes Pimentel Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go; Secretary Francis Tolentino; Representative Karlo Alexei Nograles; Representative Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu; Representative Geraldine Roman; Representative Monsour del Rosario; singer Freddie Aguilar; former news anchor Jiggy Manicad; Representative Alfredo “Albee” Benitez; and Representative Dakila Carlo “Dax” Cua.
Some of PDP-Laban’s recruits are Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte; Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa; actor Robin Padilla; former Senator Lito Lapid; former Secretary Rafael Alunan; columnist Ramon Tulfo; presidential spokesperson Harry Roque; and Representative Pia Cayetano.
Pimentel also mentioned five reelectionist senators: Cynthia Villar, Juan Edgardo Angara, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Grace Poe, and Nancy Binay.
